For my entire adult life, I have been an existentialist. As I get older, this has become more and more important to me – particularly as I see person after person strive to reach heaven on the backs, shoulders and labors of others.
Frankly, I don’t believe in an afterlife of any form – I could be thought of as spiritually bankrupt. But this disbelief is not borne out of dislike or hatred – just out of the fact that I have no real clue what will happen, no real evidence of what it will be like, and no proof that faith in god or anything else really makes anyone’s life better.
In fact, I would argue that most faith questions do just the opposite – increase the overall misery factor of humanity. Therefore, I have chosen to have none.
